Praises

*     Our Internet is back on-line!  We were down for a couple of days, but we are back.  Sorry for any ‘lost’ e-mails.

*     We had a new Women’s Bible Study in June – led by our new member – Earlene.  She is doing a wonderful job!

*     We were able to attend the SBC convention this month.  We were blessed to be there and returned home renewed.

*     We have someone to pick-up the backpacks from Atlanta.  This will same us the cost of shipping them to Newport.  Thank you Sandy!

*     We have a team of evangelistic counselors to work the Back-to-School Fair!

*     We have a climbing wall lined up for the Fair.  It has not yet been sponsored, but we have faith it will.

*     We have another new member this month – Judy Duncan.  Judy has been with us, since before there was an ‘us’.  We are grateful for her step of obedience and her witness.

*     We have recently discovered that we will be having another little Butler in the house.  Jennifer will be having a baby – quite a wonderful shock to us all.  Please pray for her, as it did not take long for her back problems to set in.

*     Oakwood Baptist Church is bringing a team to our Back-to-School Fair.

Matters of Prayer & Opportunities for Ministry

Pray about being involved in our 2006 Grand Adventure Back-to-School Fair.  We have scheduled the event for August 12 and the time of the fair will be 10:00 – 1:00.  We will be pre-registering students when they are registering for school this year, August 4th.  This should prove to be very fruitful for increasing numbers and CONTACTS.  Ways you can help:

p      Pray!

p      Plan to come to our event.  We REALLY need you to be available to help.

p      We have one doctor coming to the event.  We could use another doctor for health screenings.

p      We could use a dentist.

p      We need $207.50 to finish paying for our backpacks.  We need to fill 170!!  Perhaps your church would like to take on a certain number of backpacks to fill.

p      We could use a hair stylist to do haircuts and braids.

p      Adopt-a-student for $15.00.

p      Perhaps you have access to school supplies or related materials at a low cost - or free.

p      Contact us about collecting supplies at your church.

p      We need activities for the children to participate in, such as:  inflatable games, horses, dunking booth, food booths (proceeds go to a school organization), musical talent, puppets, clowns, and entertainment.

Pray for our family as we make continue to uncover God’s will for our financial provisions.  We feel that God has made it loud & clear that this is not the time for Jennifer to take her business much farther than her current sales volume.  In order to adequately homeschool three children, she will not yet be able to grow her business beyond her current customer base.  This, of course, is narrowing the scope of options for us – and we praise the Lord as we look behind the proverbial – Door #2.  We really feel the Lord is directing John to work at the church, without having to work another job.  There is so much to do – and so little time to do it with his current schedule.  A baby on the way has created a few immediate concerns as well.  Two baby beds will not fit in any of our bedrooms.  We really do not know where we are going to put our new addition.  We cannot sell our house and get a more conveniently laid out house, due to the small detail of John not having a full-time job.  We have a carport that could be closed in, although it would probably require an upgrade of our HVAC.  Any suggestions?  Our second concern is finding transportation for John.  Contrary to popular belief, it is still illegal in the state of Tennessee to put children in the back of a pick-up truck – yes, even with a car seat.  John WAS looking for a car – and is now looking for something more in the line of a van in decent condition.

Pray for our development of an AWANA program.  We would like to begin the program this Fall.

Pray for our Sunday School teachers.  Donna Smith: K-5th grade; Ken McArthur: Adults; John: Youth; Barbara:  2yrs – 4yrs; Jennifer: Nursery
